Welcome!
Heal India is currently an initiative run under the umbrella of a charitable trust in India, called One Kismet (http://www.onekismet.org).
Its mission is three fold -provide basic medical services to the medically underserved urban population in Indian cities, by conducting free health check-up camps across the country; partner with medical service providers to provide surgical and critical care services to the needy; and create awareness of urban public health issues. Today, Heal India organizes health camps where a free health check up and basic diagnostic tests are conducted. Essential medication is dispensed to the patients where needed. The data collected for each patient is stored electronically to eventually help create an Electronic Medical record corresponding to each patient and to help generate a 'Health Heat Map' of the regions covered by Heal India. This data, supplemented by the Indian Government's own health surveys, will allow for a focussed and targeted dispersal of medical provisions and services in the future. In parallel, Heal India is forming partnerships with hospitals in Indian cities to provide free or discounted diagnostic and surgical services to the patients it identifies through the camps. The eventual goal is to create a distributed network of semi-independent, self sustainable Heal India 'Units' across India, which will follow the mission of the organization and realize its goal of providing universal essential medical services to the needy.
